چکیده

Photoalignment layers comprising Polymer 1 were prepared using linearly polarized UV-irradiation for chloroformvapor annealing of p-conjugated oligomer films, both processes conducted at room temperature. The resultant uniaxially oriented monodomain films exhibited S 1⁄4 0.74 (at Pr 1⁄4 0.90) and 0.82 (at Pr 1⁄4 0.95) in OF and OF2T films, respectively, apparently limited by film dewetting in comparison to S 1⁄4 0.82 6 0.01 from thermal annealing on rubbed polyimide alignment and Polymer 1 photoalignment layers. The time to arrive at maximum S values varied from 5–10 s to 6–8 min on rubbed polyimide alignment layers and Polymer 1 photoalignment layer, respectively, because of favorable p–p interactions enhanced by rubbing. In contrast, PF2T could not be oriented on either type of alignment layers after annealing under saturated chloroform vapor up to 14 h. Annealing of an OF2T film under saturated chlorobenzene vapor at room temperature permitted lyotropic nematic mesomorphism to be observed in situ, which is equivalent to thermotropic nematic mesomorphism as the driving force behind thermal annealing. Molecular dynamics simulation of the conductivity mechanism of nanorod filled polymer nanocomposites.

We adopted molecular dynamics simulation to study the conductive property of nanorod-filled polymer nanocomposites by focusing on the effects of the interfacial interaction, aspect ratio of the fillers, external shear field, filler-filler interaction and temperature. The variation of the percolation threshold is anti N-type with increasing interfacial interaction. It decreases with an increase ...

A review on melt-state viscoelastic properties of polymer nanocomposites.

The mixing of polymer matrices with nanoparticles to form composite materials has been an area of great research interest. The mechanical and rheological properties of such composite materials are directly related to the properties of the matrix polymer, the properties of the nano-filler, the strength and nature of the interfacial interactions between the polymer matrix and the filler, and fina...

Micro-mechanics of nanostructured carbon/shape memory polymer hybrid thin film.

This paper investigates the mechanics of hybrid shape memory polymer polystrene (PS) based nanocomposites with skeletal structures of CNFs/MWCNTs formed inside. Experimental results showed an increase of glass transition temperature (Tg) with CNF/MWCNT concentrations instead of a decrease of Tg in nanocomposites filled by spherical particles, and an increase in mechanical properties on both mac...

Investigation of Vacancy Defects on the Young’s Modulus of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Composites in Axial Direction via a Multiscale Modeling Approach

In this article, the influence of various vacancy defects on the Young’s modulus of carbon nanotube (CNT) - reinforcement polymer composite in the axial direction is investigated via a structural model in ANSYS software. Their high strength can be affected by the presence of defects in the nanotubes used as reinforcements in practical nanocomposites. Molecular structural mechanics (MSM)/finite ...
